SciFi and Fantasy Art: 1999-Succubus

A succubus, the epitome of male desires. This is one of my latest and I think by far the best piece of ever done. I do plan on *attempting* to do her feet eventually, and I still have some detailing to finish, but I'm particulary proud of this. (Before the comments begin, I firmly believe that there is no greater piece of art in creation than the human body, if seeing it displayed in the 'fantasy ideal' proportions here offends, please don't bother harping on it, you don't have to look at it if you find it offensive. Helpful suggestions for adding to the drawing are welcome!)11 x 14 inches on bristol vellum with pencils.

I actually do have a few problems with the picture... though it is actually draw very well.

1. Having the text across it like that is visually confusing. It took a couple seconds to figure out exactly what was what with the twisting. Without the text that part is fine though...

2. My second problem is with the sort of... vest? That she's wearing. The position of it is uneven on both of the breasts. The nipple of her left breast being in the corner of the garment, and the nipple of the other one being much more... inward? Farther away from the edges of the garment.

Other than those I like it though. Especially the eyes.

:-) Bridget P. Haines replies: "In response to your "issues":1. That is there to keep people from stealing the image. It is not on the actual image, it is there on the Elfwood version of it. I've had issues with people stealing my work. 2. The vest is uneven because of how she has twisted. Clothing doesn't stick to your body like saran wrap or a comic book hero's spandex, it doesn't move like you do. It shifts when your body moves. "

I have a little problem with her clothing, as Anonymous Nonentity pointed out as well. As you said, clothing doesn't move like we do.. -but-, her little vest looks quite tight, and I think that, in this case, it -would- move that way. As for anatomy, I think her left arm looks a bit.. bendable? And the torso.. the way it's twisted like tht looks a bit improbable/odd. That's just my opinion, though.. maybe it's a succubus thing?

This is a very good piece i like the angle of the characters body but i do think it needs to be touched up a bit. The arm in the front it looks a little out of proportion, also the torso could be touched up. I think your movement for the drawing were too drastic but other than that it is a beautiful piece and keep up the good work. 2

never mind what these people say about "oddly twisted extremeties" and "The clothes not fitting right" its a beautiful picture, and you know what you doing, who are they to judge it, and critisize, lets see them try and do any better? Thats what I thought. I love it, and all your work, dont give them the satisfaction of ever changing anything about your work for them, their opinions matter, but not to degrade it like that. She's beautiful and you have a wonderful imagination. Keep up the wonderful, fantasic, and other-worldly work.

Nice composition... Although the proportions look quite odd to me...

I love her, but I couldn't help but look at her arm. It looks like a boy at my old high school who broke his arm and it never healed right. It seems a little bowed at the top. And unless her top is super stiff, there is no way in any denention other then space (wieghtless) that her chest can be that... let us say... perky. 2 But if it is ment to be stiff, that explainds the uneveness of her nipples, like you said, for the other person. 2
But I like the way her torso is curved, she isn't really human per say, so it is all great, it makes her look that much more supple and fluid.

I love her wings, they look very realistic and long enough to let her fly. Exquisite and sexy.

hey i think we both know I can't rightfully slam your technique, but when you seem to be very free with the female body in all it's glory but i see very few pictures of males. I think your fascination with scantly to barely clothed women is more lust than it is admiration for the human form. Can't complain about the art, just think about your actual motives.

:-) Bridget P. Haines replies: "Not sure what you're getting at with that comment, but it's evidently an uneducated one. Artists tend to draw things best that they are most comfortable and familiar with, and tend to draw elements of themselves subconsciously. It's easier for me to draw women because I am one. I find drawing men to be extremely difficult."

I AGREE it is sooo much easier to draw girls than guys and no way does that make us gay!! I am much more comfortable with female drawings because I am one aswell! think before you type, O uneducated one! still like this alot!!
